DNA and/or genetic test kits can be ordered from AQHA online.
DNA and/or genetic test kits are required for foals being registered when certain breeding conditions exist. Click here to review those conditions. DNA and genetic test kits can be ordered on any registered American Quarter Horse or on any horse where a registration is pending. AQHA offers DNA and genetic test kits one of three ways:
- From your online AQHA member profile,
- By form submission or mail order,
- By calling the AQHA Member Experience line.
Note: AQHA policy requires a registration application in office to order a kit for an unregistered foal.
Via Member Profile
How to order: Log into AQHA Services. If you do not already have one, create an online account and link your membership ID to your account. Click the Genetic Testing link under Ownership to start the kit order. You will need the horse’s registered name and registration number to order the kit.
Payment methods accepted: Visa, MasterCard, American Express or Discover credit card.
How long until kit is received: The kit will be sent by email shortly after the order is placed.
Once you have received the kit, further instructions are included within the packet to ensure you draw the correct sample and submit it properly.

How long until kit is received: Kits are normally mailed from AQHA within 7-10 business days. Expedited service is available through rush and overnight delivery fees.
Over the Phone
How to order: Call 806-376-4811, option 1, extension 2 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Central Monday through Friday. A Member Experience professional will complete your order over the phone. You will need to ensure you have all of the necessary information in place to order the kit, such as the registered name and number for the horse.
